Funding

The United Institute for Public Administration (UNIPA) is funded through a diverse range of sources, ensuring financial stability and independence in carrying out its mission to improve public administration globally. As an intergovernmental organisation, UNIPA does not require mandatory financial contributions from its Member States, allowing for flexibility in participation and engagement.

UNIPA’s activities are primarily supported by:

  • Voluntary Contributions from Member States: Member States may provide financial support on a voluntary basis, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing governance and public administration through the work of the Institute.
  • Private Donations: Contributions from philanthropic organisations, private sector partners, and individuals who support the principles of good governance and effective public administration form an essential part of UNIPA’s funding structure.
  • Grants from International Organisations: UNIPA actively seeks grants from international development agencies, multilateral institutions, and other intergovernmental bodies to support its training programmes, research initiatives, and capacity-building efforts.
  • Tuition Fees: For certain in-person training programmes and specialised workshops, UNIPA may charge a tuition fee to help cover the costs associated with delivering high-quality education to civil servants.
  • Other Legal Sources: UNIPA may also receive funding from other legal sources as approved by its governing bodies, ensuring that it remains financially sustainable and capable of fulfilling its mandate.

Through careful financial management and transparent reporting, UNIPA ensures that all funds are utilised efficiently to achieve its objectives. This approach allows the Institute to maintain independence while expanding its reach and impact across Member States and beyond.
